About Andreas
Action through regenerative design. I try to design and work from head & heart to hand, to mouth. Just as mature ecosystems become more energy effective over time, I try to ask myself: How can I and those closest to me lead an even better life next year with less money, less energy consumption, and by intentionally becoming even more co-dependant on what we co-produce in our bioregion? When I’m posed with a problem that attracts me, I spend a lot of time designing in my head to understand “the whole”. You might get restless the first time you co-design with me 🙂 When I get “the whole”, my heart and my hands automatically do the action, and I usually don’t stop easily on my path. Trees and natural patterns communicate with me continuously, and provide guidance in my life.
The yields of a system is theoretically unlimited. Systems intrigue me. I look for edges, possibilities and open niches wherever I go.
After a university degree as an Environmental Engineer I realized that reducing harm was great, but not enough. So I searched and was travelling the world for 5-6 years. In the end I found Human Ecology – the academia of an ethical holistic approach to the world – and I studied everything that was available. I learned that studying had its limits, and that I had to let the hand and the heart guide me into reality. I started growing my food, let plant spirituality guide me, and I turned a Permaculturalist in the early 2000’s.
Today I live on a cooperative farmstead, Rotad i Vånga, in Skåne, Sweden, together with my family and those that come and grow food and stay with us. We grow food in 45 raised beds, have a cooperatively run alley cropping agroforestry system and 4 forest gardens and fruit, and nut trees all around. Ducks, chickens and bees show us that “Everything gardens”. We provide almost all the food we need on site, and also work with the local community and bioregion to co-produce to meet common needs. My now teen kids insist on instant noodles quite often thougn 🙂
In 2017 I finished my Diploma work, and since then I mentor Permaculture Diploma Apprentices. I also work with Holma since 2017. In 2020 I co-founded the Nordic Permaculture Academy with similar minded souls. I work with SociocracyForAll since 2017, and Sociocracy is guiding my Permaculture collaborations and facilitations whereever I move.
